“Summerland” - Mt. Rainier - with Elk – 16”X 48” Mt. Rainier has always captivated me. From my first visit to Tacoma, when I could only see it in the distance, to my trip around the Wonderland Trail. This scene is from a vantage point called “Summerland”. Those who make backpacking trips know it well. I took a lot of creative license with this scene and made it far more panoramic than it is. If you were standing in the foreground (which is still on the side of the mountain itself, not as far away as it appears) the great Emmons glacier and Little Tahoma peak (on the left of the snow covered mountain) would actually be towering well above you, not off in the distance.
